Right at the beginning of lockdown I received a parcel from China and treated it as though it was nuclear bomb! I spray keys, bags, wrapping, everything- been self isolating 5 weeks now and so far so good.

I was listening to the radio a few days back when it was suggested that the post could carry the virus on envelopes....and in the UK there have been many postman who have caught CV. Like others I hadn't given it a thought up to then. Now I leave the post on the side for a day or two before opening.....together with lots of hand washing.

I thought most post was machine generated like utility bills ,bank statements etc, then machine sorted, then if your lucky hand delivered by a postperson , and if they are wearing gloves as advised, minimizing human contact, so should imagine your post is no more contaminated than the potatoes or tomatoes etc your buying from the supermarket,as you place them in your shopping trolley ,

Well in the Uk, as you'll know most people have letterboxes in or next to their front doors. The postman, even if he is wearing gloves, will have touched hundreds of letterbox and probably bell pushes/ door knockers before arriving at your address. He'll be delivering to flats as well, touching hand rails on the stairwells on the way up & down etc, etc.
Better to play safe.

Hi, here in the UK, we have been categorised as requiring "sheilding" so any mail is being opened on a washable surface, outer covers are being disposed of for recycling, any contents are being quarantined For 3 to 7 days, hands are being thoroughly washed, food is being washed, stay safe

On the British news it was stated that the virus will not attach its self to letters and parcels, only telling what was said.
