Ryanair May 24th STN-ALC Cancelled

We had the email from Ryanair saying we would be refunded for our cancelled flight to Milan within 20 days.
This was followed up by an email changing the refund to a voucher.
Another email said we would be refunded if we hadn't accepted the voucher by the end of July and it would happen when the Coronavirus crisis was over.

I saw last week that Martin Lewis has got involved with the Ryanair refund issue, subsequently reporting them to the relevant bodies over their stalling tactics. I’m all for accepting vouchers that don’t have an expiry date and that are also guaranteed by IATA or a similar body. But Ryanair need to be honest, upfront and transparent in the way they deal with their cancellations.

My own view is that Ryanair are promoting their flights hoping people will book given them funds to keep the company balance sheet looking ok, they can do this because there is no date as to when countries will be opening borders just various opinions from various newspapers and interested parties, so in my mind I personally think until you have a solid date from Government's for reopening their borders ( not we may reopen)then any flights you book could be cancelled. My opinion only

With so much still up in the air (metaphorically that is!) planned schedules will have long since gone down the pan so there will be endless juggling going on and inevitably that will mean some flights being cancelled.
Unfortunately I think that's the way it's going to be for some time to come, air travel as we knew it BC (before covid) is a thing of the past and and will take years to return if it does at all so we'd all better get used to it.

Hi,
Yes I completely understand and agree with you.
I just don’t understand why they have cancelled in late July a flight what is one of their busiest routes.
EasyJet have announced today that they are resuming flights mid June along with Jet2
You can still book 28th July this morning with Ryanair! All very strange.

Nothing surprises me with Ryanair at all, personally i would not get on a plane this summer, i would definiteley be driving
there, in the comfort knowing my wife sitting next to me is covid free,
they are saying there planes will be deep cleaned every night and the precautions they put in place will keep it
clean for 24 hours, if everyone was tested as negative prior to boarding you might believe them,
