Alicante Airport a designated Airport from Monday 18th

Alicante Airport a designated Airport from Monday 18th

Postby Bee » Sun May 17, 2020 8:00 am

Alicante Airport is now included as one of the designated airports for receiving international travellers from Monday under the emergency regulations. I take it this will be for people wishing to return to their home countries or people arriving due to family emergencies etc. It was left out of the list on the BOE but will now be included. The other designated airports are Tenerife Sur, Seville, Ibiza and Menorca.

Tomorrow I will sign the resolution so that, this Monday, the airports of Tenerife Sur, Alacant-Elx, Seville, Menorca and Eivissa are also designated as entry points with the capacity to attend international public health emergencies. Little by little other centers will be opened ». This was the Minister's message at noon yesterday, confirming what was already practically taken for granted on Friday night.

The order published today now includes Valencia Airport. There was a lot of anger in Valencia when the airport was excluded especially as the Port of Valencia is a designated port. It appears there has been a rethink in Madrid and Valencia Airport is now included.

https://www.boe.es/diario_boe/txt.php?i ... -2020-5089

Based on the aforementioned provision, the autonomous communities of Andalusia, the Canary Islands, the Balearic Islands and the Valencian Community have requested the Minister of Health to extend the list of designated airports with the capacity to attend to the health emergency caused by the spread of the disease COVID 19, taking into account their specific needs, the strategic capabilities of the health system in their corresponding geographical areas, the resources offered to reinforce health control at designated points with personnel trained for this purpose, as well as the evolution of the health emergency in the respective Autonomous Community and its ability to react to eventual risks associated with the proposed measure.

In view of the requests submitted by the corresponding autonomous authorities, the proposals of the Ministry of Health, from May 16 and 17, 2020, are received at the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, according to which, taking into account the allegations formulated by each of the autonomous communities and the evaluation carried out by the bodies of the Ministry of Health in the provinces and islands of Seville, Menorca, Eivissa, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Tenerife, Alicante and Valencia in phase 1 of de-escalation of the Transition Plan Towards the new normality, the inclusion of the airports of «Seville», «Menorca», «Ibiza», «Lanzarote-César Manrique», «Fuerteventura», «Tenerife South», «Alicante-Elche» and «Valencia» is proposed in the list of airports included as entry points in Spain.

By virtue, at the proposal of the Minister of Health, and in the exercise of the authorization contained in the first final provision of Order TMA / 410/2020, of May 14, which limits the entry into Spain of aircraft and passenger ships through designated entry points with capacity to attend public health emergencies of international importance establish, I resolve:

First. Expansion of the airports designated as entry points with the capacity to attend to the public health emergency caused by the COVID-19 disease.
For the purposes provided in Order TMA / 410/2020, of May 14, which limits entry into Spain to aircraft and passenger ships through designated entry points with the capacity to attend to health emergencies of international importance, the airports designated as entry points are expanded, in article 3.1, section a), to the airports of "Seville", "Menorca", "Ibiza", "Lanzarote-César Manrique", "Fuerteventura" , "Tenerife Sur", "Alicante-Elche" and "Valencia".

The rest of the provisions of Order TMA / 410/2020, of May 14, remain unchanged, which will continue to be applicable with the only modification contemplated in the previous paragraph.

Second. Advertising and effects.
This order will be published in the "Official State Gazette", will take effect from 00:00 on May 18, and will remain effective during the validity of Order TMA / 410/2020, of May 14, by the that entry into Spain is limited to aircraft and passenger ships through designated entry points with the capacity to attend to public health emergencies of international importance.

Madrid, May 17, 2020. – The Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, José Luis Ábalos Meco.

I think it needs to be made clear that this doesn't mean Alicante/Elche airport is open to everyone, it is currently a means of access for Spanish nationals & other nationalities who hold Spanish Residencia & are trying to return home. That also means anyone requiring to return to their country of residence will be able to take advantage of any repatriation flights that may become available. Spanish land/sea & air borders are still closed to others at the moment.

My friend will be pleased, she didn't fancy flying into Barcelona or Madrid and having to catch a train to here. This will help her hopefully get back.

morning. have a read of this. from the Ryanair owner.
The Ryanair chief executive, Michael O'Leary, has attacked the Government's proposed 14-day quarantine for international travellers as 'idiotic,' claiming ministers had mismanaged the response to the coronavirus outbreak for months.
The airline boss said Boris Johnson's Government was "making this stuff up as they go along" when it comes to its coronavirus transport policies.
A 14-day quarantine for visitors to Britain is expected to be announced by ministers this week and could be in place until an airport test for Covid-19 is available

Well there some truth to O’Leary’s claim of ‘making it up as they go along’ but, the same can be said of all Countries as this has never been experienced before.

And, if an aircraft fault developed that grounded, let’s say, 20% of his fleet, they’d be making it up as they go along, trying to keep things running despite having a few contingency plans drawn up.

The man just wants to make money and has no care for the public’s health.
