Transferring English car to Spanish plates

Can anyone recommend where to go to transfer our car to Spanish plates please. Is there anywhere local to Quesada, many thanks. I realise maybe at the moment a bit difficult but need to do it this year.

it is possible to do yourself. apparenly if headlights are led it is simple, i had a citreon zx several years ago and the rear light clusters were easy to change over with regard to reverse and fog lamp, as the sockets for the bulbs were there

Graham at Spanish Number Plates did ours. He has his own mechanic who ordered and changed over our headlights also our rear fog light had to be changed. He will come and collect the car and drop it back. Very friendly and efficient helps that he is British and has been at this for years. He has a good contact in the ITV which will have to be done once new plates are on. He will take it through the ITV as well. It takes a while to get it done mainly because of waiting on the new plates, about 5 weeks. Also not cheap at about €700 plus new lights if needed. He's on 966753375. Well recommended.

We would recommend Leigh Blann at Spanish Number Plates 671608503. Another company told us that we would need to change our headlights on our Mercedes at huge cost. Leigh investigated the light situation and told us he was sure they would be ok and they were. What a relief. Good service all the way through.

I think you might have the procedure wrong. When I did mine in 2016 it was a technical inspection first (by a company near Torrevieja ITV). Next was the ITV test, a more specialised test for imported vehicles.

Then we had to go to Trafico in Alicante. the SUMA office to pay the road tax, and the bank to pay some duty. Finally the plates were made up while we waited in a small shop in Alicante. All on the same morning but not necessarily in the order.

Last but not least the insurance has to be cancelled and a new policy taken out.
