Is our BCG vaccination keeping many of us safe?

Yes, am sure you are right but the theory is that we have some immunity/ protection . I hope to stay as safe as possible but am looking forward to some normality in the near future.

That was very bad luck that you got TB, why didn’t you get the BCG back when you were at school?

The programme was rolled out in 1953 both in the UK and Ireland for all people aged under 25. It was mandatory for school children to get it.

Why did you not get it JPEG?

Because I was serving in the Royal Air Force and we did not get inoculated for everything

But why didn’t you get your vaccination as a small child? Were you living abroad?

There were no vaccinations in the early 30s

I had the TB jab when I was at school around 66-68, not sure exact year, lived in Scarborough at the time thought all school kids in the country were vaccinated then.

I did however get TB when was 70 and was cleared eventually.. ... But having TB (or TB antibodies) does not mean you can't catch it again..

But if it makes you feel safer, fine.. but still don't take chances.. ;) ;)

..

I was 2 in 1953 and I got the jab. Think i was about 13/14 years old in secondary school as was the norm.

Boris Johnston was born in New York and lived there as a child and possibly lived in Belgium too. Didn’t come to live in UK until he won a scholarship to attend Eton College.
NB. He won a scholarship which suggests that he was very clever. Those of you that laugh at him seem to suggest that he is stupid. Stupid people do not win scholarships to the finest academical college.
The comment “ Strange, Boris wasn’t even in charge then” leaves me confused, no idea what that means. Sorry. Was it a joke?

Just a bit of levity suggesting that perhaps the testing was as good then as it is now... so things have not changed that much..

.. :D :D
