Walk to the beach from Ciudad Quesada
by Supplychainman » Tue Jun 16, 2020 8:58 am
Hi
is it possible to walk to the beach from Ciudad without it being too dangerous (main roads etc) - I know it is probably nearly 2 hours walk, but hopefully there are places to stop on the way.
thanks

You can walk along the Rio Segura from Rojales to Guardamar, mostly by footpath. The alternative is along the Lemon Tree road to El Moncayo.

Is there a footpath that tracks alongside the river the whole route? That sounds a nice walk or cycle.

There is a pathway alongside the river Segura, that wends its way towards Guardamar. You enter Guardamar by the Wok Buffet. The walk is about 5 km and takes about an hour.

Facebook group Guardamar social walkers have a walk on Friday morning from the Wok Buffet in Guardamar to Rojales and back again. If you want to participate you will need to join the group and book your place.

It would depend on where you are.
From the Golf Course side of Quesada it would be safe going down the side of the River Segura.
But going down the Lemon Tree Road Im not so sure unless anyone knows of a pathway running along there

The Segura route is a nice walk but be aware there is little if any shade & there are no cafes/bars etc en-route. Lemon tree road has a couple of bar/restaurants but in my opinion is not a safe road to walk along.

From the Dona Pepa end of town or near the arches you could try and locate the old railway track in the general direction of Los Montesinos. Most of this is blacktopped and leads to the old railway station in Torrevieja. There will be several places for refreshment in the outer suburbs such as San Luis. You will also tramp along the salt lake if you are a nature lover.Take some bug repellent!

I would not advise it Scm the Lemon Tree Road is a fast stretch that I wouldn't want to negotiate on foot.
Not sure if there is still a bus to Guardamar from Quesada but I'm sure there is one from Rojales.
