Brace yourself Spain, the holidays are comin

Brace yourself Spain, the holidays are comin

Postby daz » Fri Jun 26, 2020 9:40 am

Brace yourself Spain. It’s extremely sad to see all the ignorance and arrogance in the U.K., coupled with the lawlessness, crowded rioting, and packed beaches. It doesn’t matter whether or not it is “ just a few”, they all then go back to their homes and share this Covid bug with their relatives and neighbours. The government and police allow people to do exactly what they want and sod the consequences. And now, it’s been decided to open a corridor for travellers to and from Spain. Fantastic.

Everyone going on holiday has to funnel through airports, and be confined in sealed tin tubes known as airplanes for a few hours. Even before Covid, some people would arrive on holiday and develop a sore throat because of the planes poor ventilation system. So, It doesn't matter what part of the uk anyone lives, or how well individuals have isolated themselves, “everyone” going on holiday is at risk of bringing this virus with them! Not only could they be suffering from it themselves, but more importantly, undoing all the hard work done by Spain, by spreading it around again.

The incubation period of this corona bug is said to be at least 4 days and can take up to 2 weeks to show symptoms. So any on the spot testing at airports is possibly flawed anyway.

So the risk to Spain I believe is huge, prepare yourselves well, tourists are on their way! good luck everyone in Spain.

I have to agree with cjrk. Not everybody behaves like the dip sticks you see on the news. We are on the ferry on 5 July, we have been fully complying with the social distancing rules not just for our benefit but also for both sets of our parents in case they need our help and assistance. Yesterday was the first time that I have entered my mothers house since the start of lock down and that was only because she had a leak under her sink. I can understand the concern of people when watching the news but remember that they will only show the bad things. I was shocked at some of the nasty comments by expats on a previous post towards people coming over and I am quite willing to distance myself from them if they can list the places they frequent.

Sweeping statement, however as a key worker and having been tested regularly, whilst adhering the the rules set, I am looking forward to a much needed holiday, FTR figures also show that infection for Spain is approx 6000 per million(47 million residents) infection for uk is 4000 per million approx (67 million residents) and uk 1/10 of the size, I do agree though there are some that could have behaved more responsibly, but that's the same the world over

You may well have behaved impeccably throughout this pandemic but in no way can you be certain everyone you come into contact with whilst travelling has conducted themselves in the same manner & that has the distinct possibility of undoing all your good work. This is not a criticism, merely pointing out a fact.

Blimey, UK is 1/10 the size of Spain! What a huge country Spain is. That makes it about the same size as Australia.
And "infections" per million is a good thing if it's higher. It means more people will get a possible immunity to the strain.

Seriously, though, the majority of people in UK are taking this seriously and following guidelines. Of course, the possible 5% who don't are the ones getting the news coverage and a picture of a packed beach on the south coast looks more newsworthy than an empty park in rural Derbyshire. Same in Spain, the vast majority are showing restraint but the papers like showing beaches closed because of crowds, people congregating en masse in Madrid or Barcelona and so on.

All selling newspapers (or online advertising) and making it look like Armageddon is about to descend.
Some papers even print contradictory stories like a beach on the Costa del Sol having people escorted off for not keeping their distance whilst the next story is about deserted beaches and businesses closing because not enough people.

I'm sure we'll be in for a lot more of this in the coming months.

Apologize Spain is approx double the size fat thumbs on the phone, but agree with the rest, they'll be a load reported about Liverpool fans as well at the ground as thousands of them were celebrating,

I am glad someone (marcliff) mentioned the hypocracy that goes on across large suaves of the media. What "sells" newspapers is often very, very far from the truth.
