Our Granddaughter is coming over next week and arriving at Alicante Airport. Will we be able to wait in arrivals for her

Yes you can wait just inside beside the coffee shop.

The new arrivals waiting area in ALC is downstairs on floor -2..officially its outside but some do wait inside. IF your granddaughter is a minor and traveling on her own you can arrange with the handling agent to collect your daughter from their staff/office.

My husband waited on level 4 at the top of the escalators but -2 is a good option. Park on level 0 in the car park and just walk straight across then she just needs to take the lift from arrivals to -2

Presumably, at the moment, all UK visitors to Spain will not have any travel insurance ?

I'm amazed people are still arriving in Spain but without travel insurance......unless they do have insurance and there is some trick that I don't know about.

I checked and we have full cover to travel. As long as you have booked to travel before the covid pandemic, you should be covered.
We have annual worldwide cover.
