Renting a car in UK with Spanish driving licence

Does anyone rent cars in UK using Spanish driving licence? Do you have to show any other forms of ID eg utility bills? Thanks.

you need to have a utility bill or something with your address on or you can pre-register all your details and reserve a car on a website I use Enterprise and just have to show my Spanish licence the forms are already completed when I go to the desk

I like Enterprise but expensive. Will probably need to download a bank statement cos renting.

I have only hired 3 times in 3 years, but never been asked for anything except my licence and passport both of which were copied. twice with enterprise, once with sixt.

I do remember wanting to hire a self-drive removal van from an independent local company once and they said their insurance didn't cover me on a Spanish driving licence. I ended up using Enterprise and I imagine other national chains would be OK too.

I hired a car in July. No problem with Spanish Driving licence and didn't need further ID.

I suggest you read the hire company's T&C's.

Virtually without exceptions they will say that proof of current address, witnessed by a utilty bill or similar less than 3 months old, is a requirement.

Passports do not bear addresses neither do EU format photo driving licences so while they may prove your actual ID without a verified address anyone could drive away in a car only for it to never be seen again!

Whether they actually look at it or not at the desk is something else but I can tell that I've been in an office in Stansted where an Eastern European gentleman was arguing about being refused a car because he had no such documentation. Mine they never asked for but they could have.

Can only repeat my experience. New TIE card does show address maybe that's why.y
