yes, please do not stop suddenly stop feeding them. All animals feel the cold and at least a meal gives them some protection. Living in a finca we get all sorts of animals turn up, chickens, geese and of course, stray cats. Lots are not feral but have been chucked out because their owners have gone back to Uk and or did not have sterilised. Would not turn a hungry person away, so why an animal. Remember what Ghandi said, you judge a society by how they treat their animals

I was told by the vets Do not feed them they will fend for themselves.

Have you seen the state of some of the cats thats around,I can assure you they aren't feeding themselves.

Cats cannot “fend” for themselves if they have previously been fed. That’s just cruel !

The cruel part is starting to feed feral cats in the first place, feral cats do fend for themselves, they are wild animals.

The best outcome is to have them caught and neutered. At least then they can't keep multiplying. They are incredibly hard to catch so you would need a cage and somebody who is used to operating it. If they get used to coming to an area at a certain time each day for food it is actually easier to trap them.
