WARNING Amazon scam/phishing emails watch out people
WARNING Amazon scam/phishing emails watch out people
by izzy b » Sun Jul 04, 2021 2:54 pm
I have just received some emails supposedly from Amazon, to "update my account information"
second one "account locked".
They are obviously phishing scam emails so watch out people.
Delete immediately.
This is the email address they were sent from this: account-update@ amazon.com
I don´t have an Amazon account but lots of folk do.
I have checked online and they are scam emails after your login and password to Amazon.

Never believe anything on the internet. And never click anything in an email that isn't a reply to one you sent, unless you know what it is.

I think we all know that but these scammers are so clever the email addresses say Amazon and are very misleading to a lot, which is their aim.

You can tell by clicking on the 'from' label at the top of the email.
When you buy your own domain and set up an email account you give yourself a name which shows up at the head of the email, which can be quite different from the actual email address. For example, if I send you an email it will be headed up as from David Stokes, but if you click the "From" dropdown box it will show the actual email address.
So these scammers set the name as something like [email protected]. But if you look at the "From" dropdown box it will show the true email source which will be something unheard of.
Even if I think the email is genuine I always check that dropdown box just to be safe.

And you can block them and their domain, although this doesn't always work in Windows Live !!

There is a specific email for you to forward them to Amazon, easily to find on google.
