Trip to Gibraltar ? edited NOW UPDATED

Postby Jabberwocky » Fri Aug 20, 2021 2:10 pm

Hi, Planning a trip down to Gibraltar for a shopping trip

1. Anyone know what is the amount in Stirling of the Personal Allowance on our return
into Spain Through Customs.

Please don't mention Tabacco and Alcohol, not interested.

I thought is was in the region of 300 pounds but that might have been prior to Brexit.

Thanks all

Oops - forgot to say that it should have read PERSONAL GIFT ALLOWANCE back into Spain, not cash

Is it the same as UK to Spain? I would have thought so. It's 10k I thought but you need proof of where it came from, like the withdrawal slip ?

Don’t forget that the Gibraltar pound is not the same as English pound and can only be used in Gibraltar. You can use Sterling or euros but if you take money out of a cash machine you can only spend it in Gibraltar….

I think Jabberwocky is talking about value of goods to bring back rather than actual cash sterling.

Duty free allowances are the same as for UK from Gibraltar.

If going to Morrison's, be aware the sanctions on foodstuffs from Gib are the same as from UK and people are having things like dairy products, cold meats and so on. Only a certain amount of baby milk and special dog foods are allowed.

If the item has a EU checked sticker then they should be allowed as lots of things in Gibraltar are bought from the EU in the first place.

Other goods up to the value of £390 (€450) may be brought in with no charges. (Make sure you keep the receipts) but there is a maximum value on one individual item which I can't for the life of me remember what it is although I do know it is fairly low (under £100).

Hi. Jabberwocky. It would be great if you could post something after you have been to let us know if it was worth the trip. I would be interested to know what you thought of Next and M&S if you go into them.

No test needed because Spain is green to Gibraltar.

So you just drive and cross with your passport, that's good
