Alicante Airport

Alicante Airport

Postby 2Sheds » Mon May 02, 2022 9:55 am

We've just had an email from Ryanair saying to allow an extra 3 hours for 'security checks' at ALC airport.

We're flying tomorrow. Does anyone know if there is a specific problem at ALC ? We've only got hand luggage so 3 hours seems quite excessive.

If anyone has any recent experience or advice I would be most grateful.

I think it was their standard email whilst all the Covid paperwork checks were in place. To fly to the UK these no longer apply. We flew last Thursday, hand luggage only, and were through very efficiently; lots of security conveyer belts open, lots of passport machines, lots of assistants to shepherd everyone through. Even if the queue looks long it's a breeze. Flying back today and expecting the same.

RA seem to have introduced the 3 hour text across the board for the last month or so. I adhered to it in the first instance and found myself with hours to kill in the airport. Haven't bothered since and neither have any of my guests. Alicante seems to be still relatively quiet and certainly had no need to be there hours before a flight.

My son flew from Alicante to UK last week. He said he was through the security in about 4 mins...

The longest queues were for duty free last week!

We flew out on Friday, parked the car in the airport car park at 12.45pm, walked through into the terminal, checked in and luggage dropped by 1.15, no problem with security, plenty of time for coffee.

Arrived last week, no delays in passport control and security. Friends arrived on Sunday, from landing through to passport control through COVID checks through picking up two suitcases then into the multi-storey car park, it only took them 20 mins

We flew out last Friday for a 11:05 flight. The queue to go into security was all the way through the airport and then came back a bit. We had allowed at least two hours. The queue moved quickly, but there was then a queue for duty free, plus one for passport control. We got through OK, but with little time to spare.

So no breakfast at the airport only to find EasyJet had no food on board.

So three hours is not unrealistic.

P S we hadSpeedy Boarding, without it we may have missed the flight!
