Painting new balustrade

Painting new balustrade

Postby Gigi Hardy » Thu Jul 07, 2022 8:59 pm

I have bought the paint for my new balustrade but someone has said use PVA on it first. Not sure now what it is best to do, any advice please and if PVA is definitely needed where can I buy it?

thanks

Yes definitely PVA first, the new balustrades will need sealing prior to painting, PVA can be purchased in most DIY stores & can be in concentrated format to be diluted with water or ready to apply (already diluted) We had new balustrades last year & used PVA before painting.

Buy in big Chinese shops. UPVA. CALLED BLANCO. Use 5 parts water to 1 part UPVA. I use it everywhere on our house and it makes it easier to coat once applied. Waterproofs as well. Costs from €3.95 or €5.95 for larger bottle.

Yes upva, does seal porous surfaces, for easy application of further painting ,
But it does create bubbling sometimes, especially in this heat.got to pick your time of day for painting etc.

I would definitely talk to Quesada Paint, ask for his advice. I think it will be cheaper in the long run, "You get what you pay for"
