These stories have confirmed what I always thought,Spain is almost a police state.

Yes far better in UK. You could have a party as long as you thought it was a work event! Well at least in Downing Street

Let's not forget that this was a pandemic that was resulting in people dying. Countries across the globe introduced lockdowns, many of which were stricter than Spain.

Nonsense. It's a far more democratic country than the UK.
COVID resulted in extra powers, but they were rushed through and had no legal ascent through parliament. Hence refunds of fines etc..
That doesn't happen in ' police states'.

Yes the rules were initially quite strict in Spain but they seemed to work and people generally abided by them. They were lessened as things improved. The police are there to enforce whatever rule/laws are in force. The difference in Spain is the police are serious about actually carrying out their duty and people therefore are generally more inclined to abide by the rules. In England the public and politicians of all parties seem to think rules are there to be broken and the police aren't committed to enforcing them. We all know a slap on the wrist is no deterrent.

And perhaps the gun on their belt makes people think twice?

We felt much safer in Spain than we would have in the UK. At least here we knew where we were and what we could and couldn’t do and that was strictly enforced.

So you’re all happy with people being fined €600 for getting staples in life ,like food & medicines from chemists,I’m personally disgusted.Be careful what you wish for in the future.

We were told we had to go to the nearest supermarket so if you ventured further, it's on you.
