> i could be wrong here is the whole email anyway :
According to Royal Decree 1021/2015 of November 13, article 5, banks are obliged toidentify the tax residence (TIN)of those customers who hold ownership or control of certain financial accounts in accordance with the provisions of the Royal Decree.
For this reason,we ask that you contact our Bankinter telephone banking service on (+ 34) 91 050 64 90 or any of our Bankinterbranches, where we will let you know which information you must supply to observe the regulation, and which we do not possess. It is important that you contact us as soon as possible, so that we can continue to offer you our products and services as per current regulations.
We appreciate your collaboration and thank you for your time

Not a scam. We had to provide our NI numbers to the bank and all to do with the EU money laundering guidelines.
If it were a scam they wouldn't have said go to a branch. Try ringing the number on your card if you doubt the one they've given you.

Had the same email. I went into Bankinter this morning and all they wanted was my UK national Insurance number. Done in 5 minutes.
