Holiday insurance

Holiday insurance

Postby Lynnjon » Tue Apr 25, 2023 1:21 pm

Has anyone been out of Spain for a holiday as a Spanish resident. We are visiting Italy this year and wondered about holiday insurance ? We have booked our flights and accommodation ourselves not through a company. Any advice appreciated thanks.

Travel insurance should always be taken out same time as you boot the trip if you used a credit card there may be travel insurance included on it

We always buy travel insurance from Mapfre near to Consum. See Stefi, she is really helpful.

Hi,
I bought my travel insurance through Easycover in Torrevieja. As I was doing 2 trips it was cheaper for me to take cover out for a year which was only 65€.
Get at least 3 quotes from different companies and read it very carefully to make sure it covers everything you need.
Enjoy your trip :-)

Thank you I will look at Mapfre and maybe see if Liberty Seguros do holiday insurance as we have a couple of policies with them.

If travelling with Ryanair, I just go with their travel insurance.
Seems very good value.
Fortunately, I have never had call to make a claim.
Have often wondered if this is a false economy?
What do others think????

We travel abroad a lot and use a Staysure annual worldwide multi-trip policy (look online). We tried various local brokers, but found them more expensive for what we wanted. Take a look. They also do single trip policies if that's all you need, but most importantly cover Spanish residents. As with all travel insurance take care to declare all health conditions and medication etc. On the otherhand for a single short trip within the EU you may want to just self-insure and use a TSE/EHIC/GHIC (if you are entitled) for any medical emergencies.
