Don't just check either, always ask, they sometimes have more out the back.

I have a child’s car seat you can have for eight euros. Are the toys for a boy or girl please?

They had. Lovely little bike thing in Reachout at Torrevieja yesterday, one with a big handle at the back that allows you to push and guide it only a few euros plus lots of toys and other bits and pieces for little ones

MarkAndBrenda & Chrisdee, thanks for the replies. I am now back in the UK. I did manage to get car seats and a selection of toys before returning.
