Sabadell Bank Security

Is this legal ??

My husband collected his new bank card today and when we returned home he received a message on his phone.
It stated it was Sabadell Bank and the 4 digit number following which was his PIN NUMBER .
He of course deleted the message immediately.
Returned to bank although closed but he knew this he just wanted to change his PIN NUMBER immediately at the cash point.
Now as far as I can tell the bank give you a secure envelope with a pin when you open an account and we were told ‘they do not know the pin number’. Then why did he receive a message stating he collected his card and showing PIN number ??
Has this happened to anyone else ?

Yes we will be contacting the bank head office for an explanation.

Yes it hapoened to me! I had to order a new card, picked uo from bank, gave me envelope with my pin number inside!!!! I was furious and wueried it, and they saud had record if ALL pin numbers!

Sabadell told me with new card use same pin , just use new card to activate useing original pin,I thought new cards had a different chip &pin in them,it's confusing,
Cancel all cards revert back to barter system, if only

If that is policy is correct use once then change pin through hole in the wall . Facility on this to do it

You can change pin using the app…have to say security with sabadell is great… you can set up alerts for your phone whenever cash is drawn or and for every transaction… shopping on line there are verification steps to go through… so unless you lose card and PIN number together it’s not likely anybody could use it….

A bank does not store your PIN in their system. When your PIN is generated they encrypt it with an encryption key and only store the result of that encryption, which is a very long abracadabra string of letters, numbers and signs. When they issue a new card to you they copy this string to their registration of the new card, so your new card retains the same PIN you had before.
