Import motorbike from UK

My son would like to import his motorbike and keep it at our villa so he has it when he comes over. Will he have to get an NIE number? Is it easy to do the registration yourself. There are many costs as well would it be better to sell and buy a Spanish motorbike?

I would suggest you speak to one of the companies specialising in importing vehicles into Spain who will be able to give you an exact price. They will need him to email a copy of the logbook before they can do that. They will tell him what paperwork he will need. Here are contact details for 2 companies.

An NIE number can be applied for at the Spanish Embassy/Consulate in London/Manchester or Belfast

And it has to be exactly as it left the factory , no addons , larger tyres etc , all components [ especially lights ,reflectors] MUST be emarked ] no plates must have a plastic surround , if it is not a model that is normally available in Spain you may enter a world of grief ...!!!!

Why don’t you get in touch with somebody who does transfers of registrations. I think there are a couple that advertise on here or the free papers or magazines. They should be able to tell you if it’s possible for a motorbike and what would be involved.
