Digital Certificate in Spain

I have applied for a digital certificate. Is this simply a code with password or an actual document. Can it be only used on a pc.

I have no site software as my Abagado made an appointment for this and we went to town hall. So, do I download software or just connect to a certain site to use this. Sorry about my ignorance but my Abagado requested me to have one but I had no knowledge of this existing. I am actually trying to get a Spanish healthcare before I go on holiday. Now I an a resident my UK one has now out dated.

When downloaded a digital certificate is a .p12 file which is platform independent which means it can be installed on virtually any DEVICE, Windows, Mac, Android etc.

You can put it on a USB stick or email it to someone else if you wanted to.

It even works in Linux but apparently is a bit of a faff on that particular OS
