Painting floor tiles
Painting floor tiles
by Mac3blade » Fri Jun 23, 2023 9:10 am
Good morning,
I’m always asking for advice on doing something but this time I’ve actually got help from an English speaking advisor in Leroy Merlin in the paint department. Our downstairs toilet / wash hand basin is dark and the tiles badly needed to be brightened up. We bought Primer, tile paint, a good ain’t brush and a couple of sand paper squares. The floor had to be washed and dried to perfection which I did and used a fan to dry it. I printed on the primer so easily and left it to dry overnight. I’ve now given it a gentle sandpapering and reprised the floor. Fan now blowing merrily. I’ll give another gentle sanding tonight and put a coat of the tile paint on then. So far, so good. The floor looks wonderful and should look even better when finished. I’m going to go back to Leroy’s and buy a sealant for the final finish.

If you’d asked for recommendations - I would have advised to use Frenchic as it works fabulously well on tiles (and everything else). I used it on everything else apart from floor tiles, but my friends tiles are still perfect after four years. Just prep and paint, no messing around with primer or sealant and it’s touch try within minutes, especially at this time of the year. Second coat can be done 2 hours later.
May be a thought for next time!

I went to Quesada paint shop twice to buy Frenchchic but he was closed and could not find the shop on the other side of town. It sounds like a perfect paint and if I could get some, Us definitely use it. Thanks. Lynn

Frenchic is only sold at specialist outlets, they don’t sell through DIY stores or paint shops.
If you checkout the Little Painter on Facebook, Jayne sells it direct from her home/workshop near Dolores. She has got quite a few drops places across the area, where you can collect from.
Apart from her and another seller in Finestrat (Frenchic.es) they are the only two sellers within a 90 minute drive.

Hi,
I used the same on our wall tiles in the kitchen a couple of years ago and they're still looking good. I hope that you're as pleased with yours

Well, the job is finished and a splendid result! I’m really quite proud of my efforts. In the end, I decided not to seal it as felt the primer and paint should be sufficient. The toilet room looks bright and clean so we are delighted with the result.
I’ll definitely buy the French chic next autumn and paint my wardrobe doors finally. I don’t use Facebook so will have to go in the morning to Quesada paint shop.
Thanks for all the advice and comments.
Well done Cat lady! What colour did you paint your wall tiles? I didn’t bro g my beautiful figurine home as she looks so perfect here in Spain! Thank you again.

Next time I’m out that way, I’ll check it out as they must be selling it illegally - then don’t meet the Frenchic reseller criteria
