Advice required re Bank Charges
Advice required re Bank Charges

Our first 3 months are over since becoming resident in Spain.
Today, due to my OH WISE card being used to withdraw Dollars somewhere in the USA, she
checked our Sabadell account and discovered bank charges of 40 euros, despite there being a fair bit of cash in the account, having both our state pensions paid in and, using there house insurance.
I have just emailed them asking if they correct

Fee free accounts are out there, more of them than you think, and for non-res too. So I’m afraid the best way is to be on foot, call in at 3 or 4, and ask them how to get a fee free account and maintain to keep it fee free. Compare the info, if there’s one that matches what you can maintain, open it. The one you are currently with, notoriously high charges and seems the one of the most popular for moans and unfair charges.

I recently moved an account from one branch to another more convenient to my home. As a resident for 19 years; I queried 2 debits, one for my card and numerous debits for "C.Solution" every 3 months on my mortgage account which have been taken for years. Thanks to my new, very competant and helpful, advisor the charge for my debit card was credited immediately and she is looking into the other ones with a view to credit me. Note to self; check any unauthorised debits immediately!

If it helps we're with Sabadell and have never had an issue with charges, and seem to have a fee free account. It was changed for us when we became resident. So it is possible it seems. Plenty moan about them but we have no complaints.Give them a call, I'm sure they'll point you in the right direction.

Yes, there are many ways, for residents especially, to get fee-free current account banking.

Hi,
Appreciate all the helpful comments.
I am a non resident so is there other ways to reduce the banking fees per month.
We only use the bank for 3/4 direct debits and operate only with debit cards.
Many thanks

Get yourself a Wise account (other brands are available) and give your new IBAN to your suppliers. All online no monthly fees, debit card provided. Then close your existing account. You can use this link to sign up https://wise.com/invite/ahpc/paulu119
