Wine/Spirits

Wine/Spirits

Postby Babu » Wed Jul 05, 2023 5:20 pm

Have read about the demise of Jumerca Gama, which is where I used to get my supply of wines and spirits at better prices than mainstream Supermarkets.

Finally hoping to make it out this year in a week or two, is there somewhere else that I can obtain similar? Not looking for bodegas with no-name barrels etc. as I know where I can get that but bottled wines and spirits at decent prices?
I saw mention of a bodega in Los Montesinos, is that a more off-licence bottled setup?

Looking for suggestions please?

Thanks
Babu

Over here at present and lidls seems best value but not big difference in prices tbh from there or mercadona. Carrefour has biggest range but lidls obviously closer and have quite a few different options for you to try and at the low prices worth trying different ones. Also masymas at arches has a v good wine selection

Hi, try the bodega in Los Móntesenos. They do have the cheap barrels but also have a reasonable selection of wines & spirits at competitive prices.

I was in Aldi yesterday and saw a Toro Loco Hermanito from Requena and picked it up as most of the grapes from the area go to Utiel/Requena. Give it a wide berth. It is truly the worst wine I have ever tasted.

How much you going to save by not buying from a supermarket? Wouldn't have thought it was much, stock up when it's on offer

In previous years its been a euro a bottle for wine and maybe 1.5 - 2 euro a bottle for spirits . . As not resident, supermarket offers don't often align with visits

Think you’ve been drinking something else if you think there are spirits costing 2 euros a bottle!
