Does anyone have any idea what this is? When I first noticed it flying into the house, I saw a blur of stripes and thought ‘tiger mosquito’ but after closer inspection, I don’t know think so….struggling to find on internet

I would saya hoverfly too. They have only one set of wings unlike bees and wasps who have 2 sets of wings.

As I said if it has two sets of wings then you know it's a bee or a wasp.
