90/180 day rule for UK visitors

In 2022 UK buyers again topped the list of foreign buyers with some 11% of total transactions. What has diminished is the rate of year on year growth but other EU countries have more than made up for that so in short, Spain has lost nothing at all.

Next spurious groundless argument?

Yes, the requirements for residency for UK passport holders, post Brexit, are obviously more stringent.

People from 3rd countries, like UK, with a reasonable disposable income, will have no problem gaining residency.
3rd country People (UK) who need to work, or on lower incomes, are potentially a liability to Spain and will not be allowed residency. I can fully understand this, even though Spain doesn't have the benefits availble in the UK.

There are many EU citizens buying property in Spain and, in our area at least, the 2nd hand market is very buoyant. Apartments are selling within the week.

I think the low budget, caravan/mobile home owners, who are still non resident will see a gradual change to their situation.

From an economic perspective Spain is looking more affluent residents, along with high spending tourists using the available hotels/apartments.

This ain’t gonna be popular among so of the more strident keyboard warriors but there is another route to getting change to the 90/180 rule. Has anyone considered pressing the UK for another Brexit vote now the fat Boris has gone?

It always amazes me that people who blame brexit for the 90/180 day rules appear to know exactly nothing about what brexit entailed.

Indeed. Because nobody knew what they were voting for exactly. It is possible however to negotiate a derogation to a treaty something some people are unaware.

Surely if people are looking to do more than the 6 months, then you should be thinking about residency.

Unfortunately you can no longer stay more than 90 days which also means you can’t for example stay here November, December, January & February which those wanting to escape the British weather can no longer do.
