Way to bypass 90 day rule?

Way to bypass 90 day rule?

Postby p0066680 » Fri Jul 14, 2023 3:10 pm

A friend based in Madrid says quite a lot of Americans get round the 90 day rule by signing up for year-long courses in Spanish language.

If this is true, do you know please where is a good language course in Alicante province? How much does it cost?

Big thanks in advance

Interesting question. There are various student visas available including one for a year-long course. There are several hurdles to jump e.g. you need to have a certain level of funds to support yourself, health insurance etc, and you need to have been accepted by an accredited institution before you apply for the visa. Regardless if there are ways to dodge 90 day rule by doing language course, which i think stinks. Pay your TAX like the rest of us that are legal.

Quick correction: the aim is to stay in Spain for longer than 90 days, and **not** to avoid tax. My friend'd still be paying it in UK.

Quick correction:

The 'aim' would appear to be to game the rules and in that case spending 180 days in Spain will make your friend liable for taxation in Spain.

It's not a choice.

its a win win for Spain regardless as mostly anyone spending over 90 days in a creative manner will still be spending money in Spain

Further correction: my friend is not interested in 180 days, but simply having the freedom to stay here for more than 90 days in any 180-day segment.
My friend continues to pay tax in the UK, as fully employed there.

But you were asking about a year long course, so much longer than 180 days, surely?
