Family visiting from UK

Family visiting from UK

Postby Rhino1921 » Wed Jul 19, 2023 8:47 pm

Just read on GOV.uk site that our family coming over on Friday MAY need to provide proof of financial ability for their stay, an invitation from us and a return ticket. This, I believe has been around since Brexit but, is it an actual requirement? Anyone know?

The only reason I asked was that I read it on the Gov.uk site. Thanks for the reply though.

It's not generally required, but may be requested in certain unusual circumstances. In the case of family visiting I'm pretty confident that there won't be a problem. None of my visitors since Brexit has been required to show any of these proofs.

My husband and I travel from the UK to Spain regularly and have never been asked this question. I’m wondering if anyone on the forum has.

The British tabloids roll this out every so often, I believe the Daily Star published something recently hence it keeps getting asked in various forums. The answer is no. The requirements may exist in theory for non eu visitors but have never been imposed for British visitors and are never likely to be.
