Electricity and Gas

Electricity and Gas

Postby dantan » Thu Jul 20, 2023 10:51 am

Have recently purchase in the area and have mains electric and gas supplied by Iberbrola.
Both are currently on their standard tariff/plans.
They offer alternative plans for both but I'm really not sure which is best to go for ?
We'll use the house (detached villa) for around 20 weeks a year The longest continual period will be around 4 weeks during August.
Any advice on best tariff for us would be appreciated.
TIA

Pop into the shop and ask them, they'd help you. I believe the one at Guardamar is good

There's one in Almoradi, which may be nearer. However, you'll get a better rate online than with the shop.

I would suggest that you register your account online. it's in english and you can change your electricity plans, check your bills and change your direct debits without visiting the shop (there's even an app).

All depends when you are going to use most power,in our case night plan is best for us on electric, but we dont have mains gas.

You can get a reduced rate for 8 hours of your choice. Maybe 4 hours 8-12 and 4 hours 5-8 if you use more power at certain times.
On iberdrola website it will tell you your consumption and at what time.

You pick a total of any 8 hours that will be charged at a lower tariff. Ours are 09.00 to 12.00, and then 18.00 to 23.00.

We base this on washing/heating & oven for breakfast & morning shower. Heating/AC when we are in our property in the evening, along with dishwasher, washing machine and cooker for our evening meal. We use smart plugs to schedule high energy appliances. We are resident and present most of the year.

You may find that the stable plan works out cheaper for non residents, especially if you are leaving any appliances switched on 24/7 (fridge, wifi, security cameras).
