I contacted my insurance provider who informed me what services I'm entitled to with the level of cover I have. They told me to go directly to the hospital and make appointments for whichever check up I required. There's an option on the ticket machine for English, hit clinical advice, given a number and waited my turn. My main concern was getting my wife's cervical screening and mammogram sorted, which was booked for 2 weeks time. Just a few issues with language but it was our first time and we have some tests booked. Next time I'll know better.
