From Guardamar townhall:-
EXPLANATORY NOTE on the doubts raised by the timely closure of the center and Tossals beaches last Thursday and Friday morning.
Comment that there has NOT been any discharge of fecal water from the municipal network.
The continuation of several days with easterly winds drags deteriorating dead algae and fish to the coast, dirt produced by cleaning latrines and apartments on boats, pollution and various spills in the sea, etc.
Samples are taken on a regular basis, precisely to give security to the users of the beaches in the Valencian Community. As we are seeing in the press, similar cases have occurred on the Alicante and Valencian coasts in recent weeks.
The #Guardamar City Council has invested in recent years in conditioning the sewage and rainwater networks (Avenida Pinos, Ausias March, Paseo Marítimo and the last one in Lepanto) that come to relieve the municipal network and avoid overloading the collectors.
In this case there has NOT been a discharge from land to sea, but from sea to the coast. Thursday's analysis already presented the usual values for ALL our beaches.
Therefore, maximum peace of mind and confidence in the use and enjoyment of our #Beaches #Environment #ObrasPúblicas
