Neighbours overhanging trees

Neighbours overhanging trees

Postby the zoo » Mon Aug 07, 2023 11:38 am

Hi. Our neighbour has a couple of very high trees and are hanging over our dividing wall. We have a large parasol close to the wall and now we have difficulty opening it due to the trees. He has said he will sort it but it's always "tomorrow". We get on well with him but are getting frustrated as nothing seems to be done. Any suggestions ??

Same with us ours are conifers and they not only grow in height but get fatter, when he has his clipped we pay and have our side done. It's easier than arguing and asking him to pay, we benefit from them

My other neighbours tell me to make him pay as they are his conifers or have them cut and throw cuttings in to his garden, what's that going to Archive apart from falling out with neighbours who are nice, quiet and there if needed. All for the sake of a few euros.

I believe that's the law in Spain, you can trim someone's bush!,but have to give them their cuttings back.

Hi all i had a large tree that over hang my neighbours land and to my surprise (unlike in England ) it was all down to me to trim it not my neighbour, and clear up trimmings. i believe this is Spanish law.

If the tree is on your land, it is your responsibility.
If your neighbour 's tree overhangs your land, you are free to prune overhanging branches and to then return trimmings.

Reading the above, this is common practice to both Spain and UK.
There is no difference.
Difficult and uncaring neighbours to be found in both too.
Correct me if I am wrong!!!

We had overhanging conifers almost banging on our roof when windy and all down the side of our and neighbours gardens. We took photos and went to the Quesada town hall and spoke to the gentleman there (not Derek) who typed out a letter there and then to be approved and sent to the trees owner. On receiving the letter he had a month to comply to cut them back, which they were. Just remember pine trees are protected.
