Satellite

Satellite

Postby Slater39 » Thu Aug 10, 2023 6:48 pm

Hi we have a ground floor apartment which we bought of a German family. We have tried to put a english freesat box in and its saying weak signal. Is there something that needs doing to the satellite as in moving position for english signal?

Thanks

If it was a German family they may have a smaller dish than the one required to get Freesat. It would also need to be pointing to the correct satellite and they've probably got it aligned to a different one.

The actual TV thread on here will show TV Technology who advertises on here to contact and they will sort it out for you.

Dish need to be much larger than the U.K. ones, 1m or more, to be able to pick up a decent signal

The dish looks to be a big one not small. But thanks for your replays I will look into getting someone out. Any idea of the cost? Thanks

Without actual measurements, "big" and "small" are meaning less.

Compared to a UK Skymini dish (45cm), most dishes are "big"
For Spanish and German a 60+cm dish is needed.
For your area for the channels on Freesat the dish needs to be at least 124x135cm..at least...and people call these big
But there are 1.8 or 2.4m dishes...which is what most people call big.

Evcen then your dish will probably be aligned to Astra 1 at 19 east, where as UKTV comes from the Astra 2 satellites at 28 east

Between 40 to 60 euro is about normal for call out fees.
