FM aerial

Can anyone tell me if FM aerials are height sensitive i.e. are there specific vertical areas in which they operate best.

as far as I know they are not height sensitive but they are not very good in this area

To work efficiently an FM or TV aerial needs only an unobstructed 'line of sight' view to the source of the transmission, if you think of a transmitter as a light you'll get the idea.

Depending on what obstructions might be impeding a line of sight the aerial height required could range from virtually ground mounted to 10, 15, 20, or more meters.
