Seeing as it has to be applied for in the UK what purpose do you think a lawyer in Spain might serve - other than to charger you a small fortune that is?
Talk to your consulate in UK and ask them if they have a list of local lawyers to help you, I'll bet they have one.

There is no need to employ a lawyer, there are a lot of companies who can help you through the process,
We used Upsticks look on their web side loads of information to point you in the right direction http://www.Upsticks.es
Good luck

I'd not heard of this before.
Does it mean that a Brit with a Non-Lucrative Visa can stay in Spain for longer than 90 days in any 180, but for less than 183 days in a year, and not have to pay Spanish tax.
In other words, is it a simple way to get round the 90 day rule please?
Any suggestions v gratefully accepted

No. The Non Lucrative Visa enables you to move legally to Spain and apply for a 1 year residency permit, which you can renew for 2-year residency permits at years 2 and 4, so long as you continue to meet Spain's residency requirements, i.e. not leave Spain for more than 182 days per year and no more than a total of 10 months in the first 5 years, and complete Spanish annual tax returns. After 5 years, you become a permanent resident.
Given that the cost of the NLV is £516 before you even start talking about the documentation and translations required for the application, e.g. proof of adequate finances, health provision and health certificate, Criminal Records check, etc. etc., this is not an easy, nor cheap option, and certainly not a way "to get round the 90 days rule".
