Black Pudding

Anyone recommend a good source of black pudding? Tried quite a few in this area but do not like any of them! Spoilt I suppose as I used to live near Bacup where you get cracking black pudding.

Depends where you've tried. Pointless saying quite a few without saying where as we may recommend ones you've tried but don't meet your exacting standards.

The Chop Shop, Essex Butchers and Tesco all sell it and I like the one at Essex butchers but you may have already tried it.

Spanish black pudding is not the same as the blood isn't drained so much. But a bit like asking you the best place to buy Serrano ham or chorizos in the Bacup area.

Having always used Stornoway black.pudding in the past have found essex butchers to be good.

Not quite the same but lovely, those black sausages you can get in Mercadona, worth a try.

Difficult to match Grants of Dornoch Dot, probably the best in the world.

Think the Galway black pudding from the Chop Shop would be hard to beat here, but Scottish black pudding is the best - not that I'm biased!

I suggest you get in touch with Dougie Munro the Entertainer as he makes & sells a great Scottish Black pudding & before he came out here he was a Chef in the Gleneagles Hotel & the recomendations dont come much higher than that? He also does square (Lorne Sausage) or with Black pudding through the middle or onions or more or less tell him what u want & he will supply it & sold as one piece or sliced ready for cooking.

Wilby’s in Rojales sell it along with some excellent sausages.
