Verbal offers

Hi All,

What's the thoughts on submitting a verbal offer for a property before securing the services of a lawyer? Obviously once we know what the seller is looking for we will engage the lawyer straight away, however, I wasn't sure if we needed a lawyer just to submit a verbal offer to the estate agent to take to their client?

It's likely once you submit a verbal offer and it's accepted the agent will attempt to get you to pay a deposit, don't. Get a solicitor.

The agents have tried the "pay a deposit to secure the property", however, I always reply with I'll speak with the lawyer first. That usually stops them there and then!
