Sunbed repair

Sunbed repair

Postby Iancorker » Sun Sep 03, 2023 7:23 am

We have a metal framed sun bed with mesh cover. The frame is fine, but the mesh is ripped. Where can we get the mesh replaced?

I had the same issue. You require zero gravity fabric, which you can purchase on Amazon. However, the widest I could find was 17 inches, I required 24 inch width.
Tried fabric and awning shops to no avail.
Luckily, I had replaced my multi gym and had kept the mesh support screen from around the weights and pulleys. I cut the screen to size and used this for two sun loungers.

Thanks, but frankly I was looking for someone to do it for me.

You might find it would be cheaper to buy a new sun bed.

True, but its just a waste. The frame is fine, and that’s the bit that has consumed the most resources. In a world where we are meant to conserve resources it makes no sense to throw something away if it can be repaired.

Down to cost for me, the metal won't go to waste, the bin diggers will recycle that and flog it, when it will then get melted down and put to good use.

There is a difference between personal cost and environmental cost. It looks as if replacing the fabric would cost more money than buying a new sun bed. But the environmental cost of scrapping a frame is higher. Its just another example of a throw away society.
