Rain

Rain

Postby Mickey Braw » Sun Sep 03, 2023 11:16 am

Judging by the lack of comment I assume that Quesada missed the predicted heavy storm.
Did you get much rain though?

Was out at the Elche game last night, it was pissing down properly for a long time. Umbrellas all round the stadium.

Had a long heavy downpour late last night and this morning, thunder and lightening early hours. Really blowy now but warm. Just finished mopping the garden area, all the dirt from the conifers like mud on the floor, looks lovely now but not sure for how long. It's actually been lovely, nice and refreshing.

Just to the north of us got most of it. Trees blown over, streets flooded in Alicante and the Sant Joan tunnel flooding causing diversions. Even further north to Valencia and waterspouts from the sea coming on to the land causing disruption on the AP7 motorways. Several fires started with lightning strikes in Valencia province and 4 in Castellon which was hit with over 150 litres per sq m but, thankfully, no injuries reported.

We had a bit of thunder and lightning early this morning but the rain hasn't even filled up the bases on my flowerpots. It is windy and can see the palms bending plus a few people have lost brollies and gazebo covers.

Papers are saying there may be more to come later but the 40 plus mm of rain downgraded to 23mm and we seem to have had that. All back to normal tomorrow and, touch wood, we have been lucky again. Seems to have gone right round us to the north and now pushing towards Barcelona.

It’s been blowing a gale all day and the sky is completely yellow. Mud rain is on its way.
Shame we didn’t get that before the two deluges of rain at 11pm last night and again during the deafening storm at 6am.
Mops and buckets at the ready for tomorrow

Ditto marcliff, lots of threats which came to nothing, no actual rain.
