I think the rail network in Spain is spot on, i love travelling by train here
The prices are low and competitive and they always have offers, they are rarely late and strikes are a rarity

How the UK can allow the rip off costs there and trains constantly late or suspended because of things like leaves on the line or industrial action is beyond me
Mind you the whole country is a mess , not just the rail network
God knows what the tourists must think when they experience it all , the japanese must think the UK is third world

My train from Barcelona to Alicante last week was an hour late arriving, that's the first time I have had a late train in Spain, but their compensation system paid me back my full fare within 10 minutes of claiming it, got to be the best train system in Europe.

Got to agree with these comments, we have just got back for Mallorca and we took the train from Palma to the fashion outlet, it was about a 15 mins on the train and it was 1.80 euros each. This is the first time we have used the trains, I had to ask twice at ticket office if this was correct.

Hi...a friend paid me a quick visit so we could have a few beers a celebrate his retirement from many years of teaching in the UK. He decided to go back via Madrid just for the hell of it. I dropped him off at Albetera/Catral station ...he caught the 9,40 local train to Alicante ..fare 4 euros. He then caught the 12pm AVE ( Alto Velocidad Espana) service to Madrid for the stunning price of 9 euros. He messaged me from the quiet..spotless..comfortable train as it hit 300 KPH. He was and still is in awe of the Spanish high speed rail system.

My lawyer had a post on their blog about this. Looked really interesting. They post lots of interesting things about Spain and our area. Might be worth checking out.
