Skimmed milk

Skimmed milk

Postby Wizzy2 » Sat Oct 21, 2023 4:12 pm

My husband and I don’t really like milk so for many years have managed with fresh fully skimmed milk and we’re pleased it was readily available here. However, firstly Mercadona stopped selling it 2 years ago. Then Lidl stopped a few months ago. Aldi haven’t had any for the last month now and we’re left with Consum whose downside is that it’s sold in 1.5 litre bottles which means we have to throw away quite a bit when it’s out of date and we cannot tolerate long life.
As our Spanish is very basic we are not able to find out why it is now so scarce and wondered if anyone knew the reason.
I’m now worried that Consum will follow suit and stop selling the fresh version.

Carrefour has skimmed milk. Just be careful because the top is blue like full cream. Look for desnatada fresca at 1.03 a litre bottle.
AlCampo last week had it labelled on the shelf but there was none there.

You can freeze milk, so buy the larger bottle and split it up into smaller water bottles

Thank you all for that most helpful information that’s really helped. I normally buy about 6 bottles and freeze them. But I am currently spitting the Consum bottle to freeze but it’s more expensive than the litre bottles per litre. Also you have to be so careful what bottle you use to freeze it in both for germs and leakage.
However I’ve got plenty of shops to try now thanks to you helpful people

Have you tried powdered milk and making it up as you need it? Polvo. You can buy it in skimmed or full fat.

I'm the same as you, used to buy it from Lidl, then Aldi, now mostly from Consum.

I know you're sorted now but for future reference I managed to buy a bottle of skimmed milk from Masymas in Quesada yesterday.
