I will not recommend a health insurer. What I will recommend you to do is to read the small print of whatever company you choose. It is very important to understand the cover you will receive for the premium you pay. I say this because health insurance really is a minefield.

I know this might be a long shot but if by chance you already have BUPA in the U.K. it’s transferable with all existing conditions to Sanitas

VERY good advice from Brandyboy! We’ve been with ASSSA for 7 years and unfortunately we’ve been caught out by the small print a couple of times! Entirely our fault as we didn’t delve into the fine detail of exactly what is, and what isn’t covered.

We’ve incurred quite significant costs for things we just assumed would be covered but are not. EG; €550 for an additional night in Quiron (room only) which ASSSA wouldn’t cover! As stated by Brandyboy, it’s an absolute minefield.

ASSSA policies are compliant for the NLV but I believe most insurers are.
