The term 'Freesat has become generic and is habitually applied to just about any satellite receiver which can pick up FTA channels however It needs to be remembered that as far as UK TV is concerned Freesat is a proprietary system which requires a genuine Freesat box to work as intended which in essence means having the all important EPG.

Every genuine UK Freesat box will bear the Freesat logo on it's front panel, notably the two boxes offered do not.
