Water being stolen

Water being stolen

Postby Chrisdee » Sat Nov 11, 2023 10:52 am

Is there some kind of lock that can be fixed to the pipe by your water meter. Some neighbours are having their water pipes swopped over when they are not here by squatters who are stealing the water. There are 8 meters in a cupboard with a door that's bolted but they just chop the lock off. Thank you

That's a poorly thought out arrangement but clearly the cupboard needs to be accessible to the water company in order to read the meters which kinda rules out you fitting some sort of high security lock to it.

Just wondered if you could secure the actual pipe.
I've sent Agamed a Message asking if anything can be done. Where the squatters are there are 8 apartments mostly holiday homes, so they know who is there and who is not, they just swop the pipes over to the empty appts and when the owners arrive they find they have no water go to cupboard and see

l would have thought that if you inform the water authority and the police you should get the charge reduced ,
difficult though to secure the pipe . methinks

If it were me I'd engineer some sort of unique no standard connection to my side making it impossible for anyone to simply switch over.

My friends also have the same problem. The waterboard don't seem bothered when they told them

If it was me, I'd disconnected the water stealers inlet pipe, get a plumber to cap it off, then they no supply to were they squatting , and prehaps move on,
Or quick set resin round all the connectors
