Replacement glass for fire door

Replacement glass for fire door

Postby Chrisdee » Sun Dec 03, 2023 9:46 pm

We need a new piece of glass for our log burner door as it's cracked. I think we got the last one from Ambifuego? but it was around 100 plus euros is there anywhere else to try please.

Why?
Does it keep cracking breaking?
Its strange as when I had log burners for over 20yrs the glass never broke,
You know you fit them loose usualy with fire rope to allow for expansion,
Prehaps Budget burners might be worth a call into in there new shop San Flugencio.

Don't forget it's not really glass it is a special type of ceramic to withstand the heat.

Don't know if it's still there but we had ours replaced by glass supplier opposite bp station in Benimar. Take door with you.

I had a replacement from Budget Burners, they took the door away and fitted new ‘glass’. Was over 100€

Yes, same as ours a good few years ago but it was mentioned on here not long after we bought ours that it was expensive and somewhere else was a lot cheaper but can't find the post. It was about 8 years ago.

I'm weighing up whether to bother after cleaning it today, it's a right palava, then you've got to get the wood, aircons so much easier but a log fire looks so nice and warms upstairs too. Decisions, decisions.

We had our woodburner removed because of the dust, dirt, storage of fuel, cleaning of the fire etc. We replaced it with a gas fire. The gas is a bit more expensive (a bottle is 14 euros) but taking all the aforementioned into account it is worth it.

I’d recommend a big enclosed gas fire too. Ambifuego sell and fit. No more dirt and dust. Instant heat with an electric booster attached. A great job and will do you your day!!!
