Christmas in “ the old country”

This post has nothing to do with Quesada but for people like me who enjoy reading the forum, I thought I’d tell you what’s available over here now.
On the Co. Antrim coast, there’s a little seaside village called Glenarm. There’s a magnificent castle there and the family have created a stunning Christmas experience if you book on time! Yesterday afternoon, my 2 daughters along with husbands and children headed over to the coast for the Santa experience. They booked to stay overnight in PODS. Photos were shared and the set up was absolutely magical. Each Pod is semi circular in shape with a huge glass front window overlooking the sea and coastline. Inside, heated and cleverly furnished with a pull down bed which hues on top of the furniture. Google GLENARM CASTLE and have a nosey. Honestly, it’s wonderful. There were old fashioned swing boats and all sorts of activities along with a visit to Santa. A huge hot tub outside. Think they had to light a fire underneath to keep it warm. Think we will book again for a big family get together as it looks outstanding. My husband and I are taking our London grandchildren there on Monday ( arrived early this morning) for the Santa experience. I’m really looking forward to seeing the set up.
So many castles around here are doing the Christmas experience. Going to Antrim Castle tomorrow evening so will need to wrap up well. I love Christmas time as it is a time for carols and family not to mention all the festivities.
Forgive me if I bored you but I enjoy reading the posts on the forum and wish people would share experiences especially places they’ve visited and enjoyed.

I spent Christmas in Yemen once. That was an interesting experience.

I must admit we always think of York where we lived for 9 years and of course Germany, the Christmas market there were fantastic as it’s nearly always snowed, cold and felt so like Christmas.
Every country does have its attraction, like here it’s the sunshine and walks on beach with a flask of gluhwein.

Does anybody go to the beach at La Zenia Christmas day, never been myself, always too busy preparing for the day but friends I know who do go say it's such a great atmosphere.

In the past few years people have gone over the top decorating the outside of their homes and in truth, it’s fantastic to see as it’s getting dark very early in the afternoons now. Everywhere you look you’ll see warm white lights illuminating the gables of house, the front eves, windows, doors and whatever .Several Christmas trees, outdoor lights on trees, shrubs, hedges and all dressed so beautifully. I thought I had our house looking festive until I realised that it fell short big time. So, I raced off and bought big LED snowflake lights, a snowman and a few other items. My daughter gave us a projector that sits on the lawn and sends pictures of a
a reindeer, snowman,Santa and Merry Christmas onto the front of the house. It’s wonderful. Our neighbours are also having all the 3 martyrs children and families to stay over Christmas. They’ve been out and bought icicle lights which hang from a balcony, Huge Christmas stars and sleighs hanging from the walls. It looks superb.
Honestly, I think we’ve all seen too much of Home Alone! The lights are all so affordable too. I kid you not, you’d never guess our house was owned by two old people!! We’ll be putting the icicle lights up on Monday all being well. Isn’t Christmas a wonderful celebration. Our church service tomorrow will be conducted by the children ( with a little help from our Minister ). Really looking forward to it. Happy Christmas to you all xx

All them lights burning all that electric,is that eco friendly?, global warming what about your grand children's future planet?,
I understand your views, but think of the planet and future generations,
Also it also puzzles me,
People put all these lights & decorations etc up outside there homes, trying to out do the neighbours,
But then go inside there homes behind closed doors and curtains, and cant see a bloody thing outside!!!!!
But it takes all kinds funny old world,
Its all commercialised now and getting maximum money out of people,
But it sounds like Rosemary's got a fruitful money tree,

You’ve made me laugh merrily! The idea that I have lots of money is simply not true. I did buy a euro millions lottery ticket the other night and for a few short hours, I could have been extraordinarily rich but it wasn’t to be. If I’d won the lottery, I’d have given Gustav a fist full of it ! I’d have given so much of it away because I feel so sad when I see others in need. Solar lights everywhere and just bought a mushroom led solar light for the centre of the garden that changes colours from temu , the chinese retailer online, only 5 euros and looks great
