Everybody here calls it Tesco because it used to sell Tesco food. Now it’s easier to keep calling it that because everyone knows where it is and saying The Food Company does sound right

You're quite right...saying "The Food Company" DOES sound right...because that's the name of the shop.
Calling it "Tesco" is the same as calling Tesco "Heinz" because Tesco sells Heinz food.

On the supermarket theme, some more useless but possibly interesting info...
Lidl is ONE Company ie Lidl ES, Lidl UK, Lidl Fr etc, come under the same Lidl parent Co.
However the name Aldi is comprised of TWO parent Company's that have different logos.
Both Company's are separate entities with no operational connections, they were formed when the Aldi brothers fell out with each other back in the day!
They are known as Aldi Nord and Aldi Sud, but confusingly the subsidiaries that each one controls are not necessarily geographical! Eg. Aldi Spain comes under Aldi Nord whilst Aldi UK comes under Aldi Sud.
That is why the Spanish and UK Aldi stores share very little commonality in terms of branding and products, unlike Lidl where branding and products are similar across all their European stores,

Car manufacturer LEXUS…
Toyota wanted to get into the top end car market in the USA, their market research established that Americans weren’t going to buy a top end Toyota so they made up a new brand called LEXUS which is actually LEX US (United States)

Does anyone remember a shop called Bejam? It was bought out by Iceland, the name Bejam was an acronym made up of the family names, Brian, Eric , John and milly
