Have a look on Aliexpress

Although i agree that they are expensive for what they are, they cost significantly more than 50e to make. I know as i used to work for a company that made them. If you want a no frills cheap and nasty Chinese piece of crap that will break in a month on the other hand, then sure, go for it.

Each one has to be tailor made to the individual clients ear canal and there are multiple additional options to choose from.

the ones i was shown were not tailor made.

Maybe they looked at your ear canal and thought that a standard shape and size would suffice? My experience is that a professional company will take a mould of your ear and create a aid that would be specific to that mould.

It's like glasses. You can get a pair of glasses from the chinos for about £2, and they will probably 'do' for now. But, sooner or later you're going to need something tailored to your individual needs. That costs more.

Surely the only thing you want to do with Hearing Aids is to hear better

My dad said exactly the same thing but I talked him into spending some ify his money he'd worked hard all his life for and now he should enjoy the last years of his life by spending what he's accumulated, not leave it for me, it's for him so he's comfortable. So he has hearing aids (2 years old now) new top teeth his were worn down to hardly anything, and 2 live in carers, I tell him I don't want his money, he can't take it with him, so enjoy it and live your last years in comfort.
