Nie query

Hello all
I have searched for an answer with no luck.
I will shortly be getting an irish passport and would like to know if I will need to get a separate nie number as my existing number is matched to my UK passport

I presume you have dual passports. I doubt you will get a different NIE number as it's your fiscal identity in Spain. None of your personal data has changed from your UK passport to your Irish passport i.e name, date of birth, place of birth etc. You can change your name on your NIE after marriage without having to get a different NIE number. If you are a non-resident living in UK or Ireland just ring the Spanish Embassy in either country and ask them for confirmation.

The simple answer is no the number stays with you forever just like your UK national insurance number.
