A friend is with Telecable. As a broadband provider, is it as good a AVATEL?

that is a matter of opinion. Their broadband supply is not consistent and has room for improvement.
Their supply of rebroadcast TV is even worse, and has deteriorated since they were taken over by Excom. They appear to fail to monitor their output and clearly fail to have stand by engineers to correct broadcasting faults over and during weekend failures when even complete weekends without signal occur. They appear to take no notice of any complaints and constructive comments passed through their Quesada office. On the other hand and to be fair, their engineering support service to customers homes or by telephone on Mondays to Fridays is adequate, but does not compensate for their other inadequacies. I would not recommend them at all and I am examining alternatives to their service.

I have used DVBLAB for many years with hardly any problems. On the odd occasion something went wrong they put it right very quickly.

to my knowledge they dont supply tv. just broadband ,

I totally agree with eboracum. We were relatively happy with Telecable until they were taken over. Every time we come out to the house there is an issue with the TV. Their engineer service is now terrible. We are going to change provider.

A big thanks to all of you for your replies. I’ve passed on your advice and she plans to cancel her Telecabke contract as finding it very unreliable since the takeover.
